What a busy first week back to school! On Wednesday we arranged our classroom as a market place with the "stallholders" becoming experts on various aspects of the human and physical geography of Brazil. Everyone then took a turn in teaching a group about their area of expertise. We all agreed that we had learnt a great deal about the country of Brazil and acquired new sklls in communicating and teaching others. Mrs Troughton and Mr Brixey think they will soon be out of a job!

This term, Eagles have taken a mastery approach to maths which means we have spent lots of time really understanding each area of learning before moving on. We have all grown in confidence and have made fantastic progress! Here we are checking our progress using big paper and (shhhh....) using the tables as whiteboards!
The first week back at school saw Eagles Class taking part in a week of Inspirational Maths. We were really inspired by the visual and creative activities and enjoyed watching the daily mindset videos, discovering new and exciting things about how our brains grow and change. Here is one magnificent mathematician testing out his conjecture on the iboard. So far it has taken 4 pages... and the calculations are still continuing! Shape, measurement and time have been the focus of our maths learning over the last few weeks. Maybe these files will help you remember some of the key facts?
This week we have had 2 meetings for parents to explain the new arrangements and expectations for the KS2 SATs that Eagles class are preparing to sit in May. Watch our blog for useful websites, hints and tips as the great day approaches! Here is a short video that explains everything very clearly. Remember - the door is always open and if you have any worries or concerns, we are always happy to have a chat! Never before has Macbeth been performed with such imagination and ingenuity! Eagles were soaring this week as they accepted the challenge to re-enact the entire tragic play of Macbeth in under 7 minutes! The classroom was alive with activity as each group prepared their scene, using whatever props and costumes they could find. Mr Brixey was on hand to announce each scene and the actors played their part with such energy that they could have been performing on the stage at The Globe itself! Well done Eagles - The Bard would have been impressed! Who is this blood-stained ghost? |
